How can I suggest a topic?

Please review the current list of topics to make sure your topic is new and unique.

All suggestions are carefully considered by our committee using several factors—such as relevancy to family medicine and availability of high-quality evidence—to guide the selection of topics for content development. From time to time, the committee will revisit past submissions at their discretion if the request cannot be fulfilled immediately.

I am interested in reading an article referenced by a question, but the journal requires a subscription.

You can request copies of reference articles using the CFPC Library Services request form (regular library charges may apply).

Where can I find more information about a specific Self Learning question?

In the question Reference section in each volume, you will find a link to the PubMed abstract where the article was referenced for the question (as well as a link to the full text article if available). Copies of reference articles can also be requested through CFPC Library Services (regular library charges may apply).

I have a question/comment about a specific Educational Point in a Self Learning volume.

Please submit your question/comment using our  feedback form. Your feedback will be passed on to the Self Learning National Committee who will review and respond accordingly.

How can I contribute to Self Learning program content?

If you are interested in creating content for the Self Learning program, please contact us. There may be an existing question writing group in your area that you can join, or there may be an opportunity to start your own group depending on availability and subject to the joint approval of the CFPC and the regional chair.

How is the content for the Self Learning program developed?

Question writers are family physicians from across Canada. They develop the questions based on articles from current peer-reviewed journals. The Educational Point for each question contains information drawn from these articles to support the question. The Self Learning National Committee reviews all submitted questions before they are chosen for each volume. Visit About the Program to learn more.

What question formats are included in the Self Learning program?

Most of the questions are multiple choice and true/false. Each volume also includes two to four short answer management problems (SAMPs), which explore clinical scenarios in greater depth.
